🍓 Strawberry Care Tips
A few simple tips to help you enjoy your Garden Ridge Ranch strawberries at their best!
Don't wash until you're ready to eat them.
Strawberries are happiest when they're kept dry. Washing them too soon removes their natural protective coating and adds moisture, causing them to spoil more quickly. Wait until just before serving, then rinse gently with cool water.
Refrigerate promptly.
Store your strawberries in the refrigerator as soon as you get home. For the longest shelf life, keep them in their original container or another container that allows a little airflow.
Remove any damaged berries.
One overripe berry can cause the others around it to spoil more quickly. If you notice a soft or bruised berry, enjoy it right away or remove it from the container. We hand pick and hand sort every berry to make sure only the highest quality make it to your home!
Let them come to room temperature.
Cold strawberries are delicious, but if you have the patience, let them sit on the counter for 15–30 minutes before eating. Their natural sweetness and aroma really shine.
Freeze extras for later.
Have more than you can eat? Freeze them!
Gently rinse and dry the berries.
Remove the stems if desired.
Spread them in a single layer on a cookie sheet or baking tray.
Freeze until solid, then transfer them to a freezer bag or airtight container.
This keeps the berries from freezing into one big clump, so you can grab just what you need for smoothies, baking, sauces, or homemade jam.
Enjoy them simply.
Our favorite way? Fresh from the container, still warm from a sunny day. Sometimes the simplest things really are the best.
Our berries are picked ripe, not green. Unlike many grocery store strawberries, they're meant to be enjoyed within a few days for the very best flavor and quality.
